Our Story
Jerk Stop Brixton began with a simple idea: bringing the authentic flavors of Jamaica to the heart of Brixton. Inspired by the rich culinary heritage of the Caribbean, our founders wanted to share the smoky, spicy, and soulful taste of traditional jerk cuisine with the local community.
Jerk cooking has a storied history, originating with the Maroons, who were escaped slaves in Jamaica. They developed a unique method of preserving and flavoring meat using a blend of local spices and slow-cooking it over pimento wood. This technique not only infused the meat with a distinctive, irresistible flavor but also helped to preserve it in the tropical climate.
Determined to honor these deep roots, Jerk Stop Brixton uses time-honored recipes and techniques passed down through generations. Every dish is a tribute to the original flavors of Jamaica, from our fiery jerk chicken to our succulent pork and perfectly spiced vegetarian options.
